A Year Of Bloody War
The ongoing bloody war between Russia and Ukraine has forced the world's powerful as well as small countries to think. On February 24 last year, the Russian army invaded Ukraine and started turning a small and beautiful country into ruins of devastation, then the world probably thought that this war would end in a few days, but Russia's tough As of now, there is no hope of peace between the two.
NATO countries including the US had to jump in support of Ukraine, but Russian President Vladimir Putin didn't care about them either.
Today it has been a year but they are adamant on their stubbornness. In the war, both the countries have suffered huge economic losses, as well as the human losses are also huge. It is hardly possible to compensate for the devastation caused by the Russian attack in Ukraine. More than 10,000 innocent civilians have lost their lives in the Russian attack. In these, a large number of innocent children went into the lap of sleep forever and many became orphans. Hundreds of women and men lost their loved ones.
The children of hundreds of parents were snatched away. In the United Nations General Assembly on February 6, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had clearly said that there is very little chance of ending the war between the two countries at present. So far more than 1.90 lakh soldiers have died in the war. The army of Ukraine claims that 90090 Russian soldiers have died in the war.
At the same time, according to a senior general of the US Army, more than one lakh soldiers of Ukraine have suffered casualties. Russia claims in this regard that about 1.5 lakh soldiers of Ukraine have been killed in the war.
According to Dara Massicot, a senior policy researcher, the number of casualties in Ukraine is approaching 100,000, for Russia this number is between 100,000 and 1.30 million.
The Human Rights Department of the UN collects official figures regarding such casualties. According to its High Commissioner, from February 24 last year to the 12th of this year, 7199 people were killed in Ukraine, while 18955 civilians were injured, including women and small children. However, it is believed that Russia and Ukraine both understate their losses for domestic and international propaganda purposes, whereas the reality is otherwise.
However, it is difficult to say for how long the war will last and how many more people will be killed in it.
